Gesaffelstein sounds a bit weird for German ears, but trust me, Bomb Boutique followed him from the beginning of the Post Apocalypse Disco era of the Noughties. Gesaffelstein starts were The Hacker ended. Dark, eerie and more edgy with less 80s EBM quotes, although his sound is pitch dark. This fits perfect into the Neo Goth and even Okkvlt or Witch House movement.
In the video "Ghostriders II", the passion of two Parisian fixie nerds and the dark sound of Gaseaffelstein build a perfect black and white symbiosis you can hardly take your eyes away from.

Holy shit, Death Grips is possibly the best Hip Hop artist I've heard for ages. Or is it Hip Hop? Urban, What the fuck ever. It's raw, cutting edge, fresh and bloody cool. In some points, it reminds me a bit of Silver Bullet or MC 900Ft Jesus - just the 2011 way. Check the video:

Summer is here, peeps. Yes. After 9 months of darkness in Berlin! Fantastic. And, I will be at SONAR in Barcelona after four years again. The official program is, as in the past, not really interesting, but there's lots of cool off-Sonar events goin on. Let's see if anything changed after I was really fed up with Sonar after lots of fuck ups, bad organisation and so on. maybe it's time for a Sonar revival as it is with Dance music in general.

Fellas, it's a strange month. Right after Malcolm McLaren passed away, we're all in mourning about the loss of Guru of Gang Starr and Jazzmatazz fame, who was surely one of my favorite MCs of all time. We all wondered about Guru's bizarre "from the grave message" he released via his musical partner Solar and the role Solar played at last in this drama. However, no wonder there's already countless discussions, accusations etc. within and outside the Hip Hop scene and I'm sure this will last for a while. This is kinda weird, but as nobody from us was at his death bed personally, the story might remain in shadows.

Sad news came in today when it was announced Malcolm McLaren died age 64 from cancer. Most news rely on on his notorious Sex Pistols role of course, but I experienced McLaren when I started listening to Hip Hop next to Post Punk. In my record collection shelf he stands next to Mantronix and he was as influential as Curtis Mantronik's beats were to me. Next to Chris Stein, he was another white musician who brought Black Music to a white suburban kid like I was in that time. He opened the doors for me to a wider world a amazing music and I'm thankful for that. The fantastic "Duck Rock" album is playing my MK2 now. R.I.P.!

People, something strange is goin on here. I remember waves of stagedivers, rumbling moshpits and screaming airguitars, going to Metal shows in the 90s and Noughties. But now, a new decade and people telling me, that's an unhealthy behaviour? WTF!!!? I did this photo on last weekend's AIRBOURNE show at Huxleys, Berlin. I mean, AIRBOURNE are a Fun Metal band, I wouldn't say AC/DC clones but everybody around us was broadly grinning with the riffing beginning of each song. I'm sure, the Young brothers don't but what else should happen at an AIRBOURNE show? The biggest danger was Joel O'Keeffe, climbing and jumping all over the venue. Big fun. Here comes your Valentine! I'm really happy that Jonas reanimnated his legendary Fiebertanz nighter at one of my favorite Clubs, Das Schiff in Basel, Switzerland. It was one of my favorite Noughties spots and I am looking forward taht Jonas brings Fiebertanz on the new decade's level. He does everything right with inviting SOMETHING A LA MODE from Paris. Their Disco Nuveaux track "Rondo Parisiano" on Yellow/Discograph isn't that special because of Karl Lagerfeld's appearance but tributing Rondo Veneziano. We will see how this works out on stage. Oh, how I love(d) The Gun Club. And I don't mean their cool but annoying Goth Wave Club standart Sex Beat, but the beauty of albums like Miami or Las Vegas Story. Especially the melancholic, shivering voice of Jeffrey Lee Pierce took my attention and it was a great loss when Pierce passed away in 1996. The Gun Club always moved in between bands like The Bad Seeds, Crime & The City Solution or The Cramps, quite uncomfortable, as their swampy, bluesy sound was quite early for that what's called Americana today.
Back in the days, Cypress Grove demoed a couple of songs with Jeffrey Lee Pierce what possibly are the last works he participated. Re-interpreted by fellas like Nick Cave, Lydia Lunch, Debbie Harry, The Raveonettes, The Sadies, David Eugene Edwards or Mark Lenegan, these songs form a vibrating Compilation of Swamp Blues, Gloomy Country and Dark Rock. A great introduction, optically enhanced with photos from the recording sessions, to the songs of Jeffrey Lee Pierce, released on Vinyl and CD via Glitterhouse Records.
